Prep:
- Ensure the PPF is completely clean by washing with high-quality auto soap that contains no fillers, waxes, or shine enhancers. Rinse vehicle completely with fresh water and fully dry to avoid water spots.
Optional steps for best results:
- For PPF that is not freshly installed, remove additional contaminants with a clay bar detail.
- Use Nexgen Panel Prep as the final step in preparing the surface of the PPF. This will remove any leftover waxes, sealants, or glazes.
Apply:
Note: Multiple clean, dry microfiber towels will be necessary for a proper and effective application process. We always recommend using gloves while applying Carbon PPF.
- Shake bottle vigorously for 3-5 minutes, repeat before each pour.
- Pour 15-20 drops of Carbon PPF evenly onto an applicator pad.
- Apply the coating evenly to one panel section at a time using a crosshatch/back-and-forth motion. Ensure a relatively thick coating and 100% coverage.
- For standard PPF: Let the product sit for 1-2 minutes to allow proper adherence. The porous nature of PPF will cause Carbon PPF to absorb slightly as it adheres.
For PFF with satin or matte finish: Work in smaller panel sections and do not allow Carbon PPF to sit for more than 15-30 seconds. Satin & matte finishes quickly absorb product and will exhibit streaking much sooner than standard PPF.
- Use a clean, dry microfiber towel to wipe off excess product. Use the palm of your hand to hold the towel completely flat against the panel.
- Using a separate microfiber towel, gently buff out any remaining product and perfect the surface finish. Note: Product may appear hazy for 30 seconds to 1 minute. It will clear up as it solidifies.
- Repeat these steps panel by panel until the entire vehicle is coated, excess product is removed, and the finish is buffed out.
Application Recommendations:
- Do not apply Carbon PPF in direct sunlight or extreme heat.
- Install Carbon PPF in a temperature-controlled environment.
- In hot and humid conditions, work in smaller sections and wipe the product off sooner to ensure the coating is level. If needed, use a damp microfiber towel to level the coating.
Cure:
- To extend the coating's lifespan to 8 years, apply Nexgen Ceramic Spray as a topper 60 minutes after applying Carbon PPF. Only a light coating is needed, using 2-3 sprays per panel.
- Avoid contact with water for at least 24 hours.
- Avoid contact with any chemical, cleaner, or soap for at least 14 days. If cleaning is necessary, use Nexgen Ceramic Spray as a stand-in cleaner. It will effectively lift contaminants as well as re-fill any pores with high-quality ceramic.
Maintenance + Tips
- Apply Nexgen Ceramic Spray as a maintenance topcoat at least twice a year for best results and extended lifespan. This will fill any pores or scratches on the coating with more ceramic, rebuilding and reinforcing your coating in one step.
- Avoid going to automatic or “no-touch” car washes. Poor brush maintenance and low-quality or overly intense soaps may shorten the lifespan of the coating.
- Use Nexgen Ceramic Soap for car washes. It’s pH-balanced, concentrated, and infused with silicon dioxide so it replenishes the protective ceramic barrier while also offering a safe and effective wash.
